CCS has places available for Direct Entry into the second year
of the Diploma Course for those applicants who wish to gain a
BACP Recognised
Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
There are only up to 4 places available each year in the second
year, so we may not be able to accommodate everyone who applies.
To gain your BACP-Recognised Diploma you will need to meet with the
following criteria:
You must have attended a Basic Skills course of more than
90 hours in length.
You will be asked to submit a tape recording evidence of
a session with a client - either "real" or a role play.
You will be asked to ask to write a 1000 word typewritten
essay illustrating your understanding of the psychodynamic model
based on your personal journey and insights gained during your
first year's counselling training.
You will be asked to submit copies of your first year's reports
from Course Tutors.
In assessing the tape and at interview stage, the Panel will
be looking for the following "reflective practitioner"
qualities:
Insight into your own inner world
Awareness of conflicts within
Listening and responding skills
An understanding of the purpose of boundaries both personally
and professionally
Ability to recognise these when they're being tested
Ability to be honest about your limitations
Ability to make positive use of assistance offered
Capacity to cope emotionally with Year 2
Skills
Able to use open ended questions
Able to reflect back, listen actively, clarify, paraphrase
and summarise
Able to work in the here and now (immediacy)
Able to have some awareness that past situations are repeated
in the process emerging between client and counsellor
All material which you submit will be treated with the utmost
confidentiality and the tape and essay will be returned to you
Please be aware that although you
may appear to meet all the criteria, you are not guaranteed entry
into Module II, and following your interview it may be considered
more appropriate to offer you a place in Module I.
Should you be successful in gaining entry into Module II, you
will be expected to commence your own personal therapy as soon
as possible with a practitioner chosen by you from our list of
recommended therapists/counsellors. A delay in starting this
could result in a delay in starting with client work in the Autumn
Term
Due to the extra work involved in assessing whether your application
might be suitable for entry into Module 2, there is an extra administrative
cost.
If you feel that you might meet the criteria and would like
to be considered for entry to Module 2 please click here for a
